I was asked if I could make a single portrait from three separate photos recently as a commissioned piece. I asked the client to send me photos of the horses that she had in mind and I crudely made a mock up of all three, sent it back for her approval and I began nervously working on it. I'll admit, it was one of the most difficult pieces I've completed!
Here are the three horses (2 of them are Standardbreds!)
Resizing each portrait to size was pretty tough, but the most difficult part eliminating tack in the portraits (at the request of the client). That took some creative improvising on my part! *It's also very hard to ignore those lines when you're cutting things out! I am really happy with out it turned out.
I have a few little tweaks to make before I sent it off to her, but what do you guys thinks?
I can still make some for Christmas if anyone is interested!
How much do you charge for a picture? Not necessarily of the three...just of one?
ReplyDeleteMarissa, the pricing usually works out at: $125 a portrait, $200 for two and anything above that I can make a fair deal! I use paypal for billing so it's convenient for the client to use any type of payment.
DeleteAbsolutely lovely - I would never know that 1) you used 3 different pictures and 2) you removed the tack. I'm saving my pennies for a project - I think it will be right up your alley after seeing this picture. You are so talented!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to make one for you! Horses with bold markings always make dramatic portraits!
DeleteCan you email me at sss_0222@yahoo.com? I'm thinking of something for my mom for her birthday so no rush (its in Apr) but it would be of her 3 Australian Shepherds. But I'm going to make it easy for you - they're all in the same picture.;) Charlie will be next on the list...
DeleteGreat job! Those compilations can be super tricky. You put those together seamlessly.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT!!! You did such a fantastic job!!! Thank you so much for being so willing to try something new! I cannot wait to have this hanging in my house! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove this as always!
